Courses are conducted in English and last three
to four weeks. An average of 16 journalists from Cambodia, Laos,
Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam attend.

The IMMF has also organised journalism
workshops in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam using interpreters to train journalists whose
lack of English language skills means they cannot take part in the regional
courses in Thailand.
May/June 1995 - Six weeks training for journalists
working for the newly launched Vientiane Times in Laos.
June 1995 - Small workshop for editors in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh
City, Vietnam.
September 1995 - Two one-week workshops in basic journalism for Lao women
journalists in Vientiane.
March 1996 - Two-week basic journalism workshop at the Cambodian Journalists' Association
in Phnom Penh.
March 1997 - One-week training in basic journalism for 25 Lao
journalists in Vientiane.
January 1998 - Two-week radio journalism training for 12
journalists from Myanmar, including ethnic Shan and Chin, working
for the Democratic Voice of Burma in northern Thailand.
May 1998 - One-week training in basic journalism
for 30 Lao journalists covering urban
environmental issues in Vientiane.
April 1999 - Two-week radio journalism training for
seven journalists at the Cambodian Communication Institute in Phnom Penh.
May 1999 - Ten-day radio journalism course for 12
journalists at Lao National Radio in Vientiane.
January/February 2000 - Three-week radio journalism training for 12 provincial
Lao journalists in Luang Prabang, northern Laos.
July 2000 - Ten-day print journalism training in
Pakse, southern Laos, for 21 journalists from central and southern Laos and 21
observers.
July 2000 - Five-day print journalism course in
Vientiane, Laos.
September 2000 - Two-and-half-week print journalism
training for journalists from The Nation in Thailand.
December 2000 - Three-day print journalism training
for journalists from Irrawaddy Magazine in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand.
